My name is Jessie and I have created this blog to share my journey to health, happiness, success and self esteem. I have had health issues from the time I was a little girl, at 18 months old I developed meningoccocal and was lucky enough to survive, having relearned how to walk and talk. I have struggled with chronic asthma, salicylate, wheat and gluten intolerance, allergies to nuts and beestings, acne, leaky gut, bullying, self esteem issues, panic attacks, feeling completely alone, being underweight and malabsorbant (definitely due to the amount of rubbish I ate and the extreme lack of anything natural and healthy), mineral deficiencies and the beginnings of an autoimmune disorder. I have struggled very much with valuing myself as a person and letting go of the past. I am finally seeing changes in my health and myself as a person.

I am now studying holistic nutrition have also launched a campaign to stop the Heart Foundation from promoting margarine and processed food http://www.change.org/en-AU/petitions/the-heart-foundation-stop-promoting-margarine-and-processed-food

As a student, Thermomix Consultant and a mum of a gorgeous three year old boy,  I believe it is really important to give him the absolute best start in life, while looking after my own health so I can make sure I see his kids grow up and their kids! We make everything from scratch and don’t have any sugar, GMO products, additives, preservatives or artificial colours and flavours in the house, we even churn our own butter! (mmmmm butter). It is amazing the ways your body thanks you when you live organic, healthy lives. I am so different to the person I was.

If you wish to contact me personally please email jessrems@gmail.com and I will endeavour to answer any and all questions.

Everything on this site is just about what has helped me- it is essential that you seek professional advice (preferably from a holistic practitioner).

I wish you much health and happiness. Good luck on your journey to seek the truth about health and nutrition.

    • Thank you so much for visiting my blog, I only just put it up yesterday. It is wonderful to find like minded people going through the same things, sometimes it can be lonely and like you are the only one in the world going through it! I hope you find my blog helpful as I did yours, all the best to you and your family :)

Happy to see you being passionate about caring for yourself both physically and mentally and helping others along the way! Keep up the good work :)

  2. Celiac and Allergy Adventures

Wow, you’ve had similar struggles to me. I have nut, pine nut, sesame and shellfish allergies and had severe asthma and eczema (rather than acne) my whole life. I also have Celiac Disease now … and have definitely suffered from panic attacks! Ugh. Who wouldn’t after all that we’ve gone through? It’s inspiring that you churn your own butter, mill your own flour and are so dedicated to knowing where your food comes from! Good to “meet” you on here!

    • Yeah we have quite similar stories, I don’t have celiac disease as such apparently but because of other digestive problems I can’t tolerate any wheat or gluten anyway, have you heard of the Body Ecology Diet? That might help you, I see you are into the SCD diet too, I pretty much follow that as well and find chicken bone broth soup really helpful for settling my stomach and aiding digestion, I am on really strong medication for my asthma and would love to slowly come off it. It is inspiring that you have such a positive outlook, lovely to “meet” you too haha :)

What medication do you take for your asthma? I have to admit that even after all I’ve been through, I still sometimes slack off on taking my asthma medications. It’s so awful of me, and I feel so guilty about it. Usually this time of year is tough, so I remember to take it. I

I have not heard of the Body Ecology and will have to look into that!

      • I take Seretide 250 inhaler 2 puffs morning and night and ventolin where I need it, there is no way I can get away without takinng it, I can barely breathe by mid-morning if I forget too, unfortunately there have been a lot of fires in Brisbane lately and the smoke and wind have made my asthma particularly awful. You should definitely take a look at the Body Ecology Diet, Louise Hay’s books have really help me with maintaining positivity in my life because for a long time all I did was resent it and become depressed which was no fun at all.

  3. Jessie, you are doing so well. The road has been very tough for the past seven years, and after years of extensive research and trial and error you are putting all your hard work out there for the benefit of others. I don’t say this much, if at all, but you have helped me a great deal since we met, and i hope i help you too. I am happy to be on this road with you. Thank you for introducing me to the Louise hay Audios, You are doing amazing things and you will do even greater things as time goes by.

    • Thanks :) You do help me very much! I love the audios as well, so glad that you are finding them helpful, I am so excited about my recovery :) things will get easier and easier as time goes on :)

  4. Hi Jessie, I just came across your blog. Like you, I have celiac disease. I’ve also developed horrible problems with wheezing secondary to a sulfite allergy/intolerance over the last 8 months. I also get sick from soy. We have taken GMOs our of our home and I am always on the lookout for new recipes. Thanks for sharing so much and Happy New Year!
    Jess

    • Hi Jess, Thanks for your comment, I am lucky enough not to have full blown celiac disease, it’s just an intolerance thankfully but I have eliminated all GMO, processed and packaged foods, processed sugar and junk from my diet as well as the chemicals in my home and it has helped so much!!! I am glad you like my blog and I hope that you love the recipes :) Have a fantastic Christmas and Happy New Year to you as well! Think about trying Bioresonance and/or homeopathy to help with your allergies and intolerances, it has dramatically changed my life and I am able to enjoy a much wider variety of foods now. Best wishes, Jessie.

Jessie… Thank you. You have inspired me in immeasurably in a dark time. I also have a 3 year old (girl) and our stories could literally be identical twins. WOW. Again… THANK YOU. <3

    • Wow Jenny, I am glad you have found my blog inspiring, please let me know if you ever have any questions or there is anything I can help you with. Feel free to add me on facebook. Jessie Reimers. Best of luck on your healing journey. Much love and healing thoughts with you xx

Hi Jessie, I have just been advised by a Naturopath that my 14mo needs to follow a low salicylate diet. I’m getting ‘lost’ online and don’t seem to be able to find quick easy meals to prepare for her. Can you point me in the direction of material that would be aimed specifically at babies? If I feed her anything that doesn’t agree with her it means no sleep for either of us for about 24hrs and lots of tummy/bowel pain for her :(. I really need help!

  7. Hi Jessie!

I always appreciate finding an allergen blogger who isn’t writing about their own allergies rather than just their child’s. While I’m glad that there is a great supportive network out there for the mamas with allergic children, as a 26-year-old with multiple food allergies I think the way food allergies impact my life is different. My upcoming August wedding requires some unusual planning like the fact that the maid of honor will be carrying my Epi-Pens and all of the food requires a good deal more thought than usual, going to the grocery store is challenging due to how extremely allergic to peanuts I am (airborne anaphylaxis), and I wonder what it’ll be like having kids in the not too distant future since, unlike most bloggers, I’m the one with the allergies. So it’s nice to find bloggers with allergies themselves who represent a bigger variety of life stages!

While I’m not yet at the point of making everything from scratch that’s the goal! I feel like I’m at the very, very beginning stages of looking into things like gardening, canning, etc. So much at the beginning that I’m researching rather than starting yet, but I’ll get there. Hoping to eventually have a lot more control over my food because it’ll be safer due to my allergies, a whole lot healthier, and fun. :)
